About the Art: This map was created for a patron as part of my annual birthday celebration! Every year I ask patrons to submit their maps for consideration and I create whatever sparks my interest. I really liked the shape of the rough draft and the magical effect over the land. It has versions both with and without names so you can add your own if you wish.
About the Artist: Hi! I'm Deven Rue, the official cartographer for Critical Role, Beadle & Grimm, WotC, Steamforged Games, and many more. I spend my days drawing and managing my business, while mornings are for relaxing with my cats, and evenings are dedicated to gaming. I love creating magical, often dark and creepy spaces, and I enjoy developing stories, histories, and lore for the maps I create, even if they don't always see the light of day.
I’m a traditionally trained artist, starting with paper before moving to digital, and I have experience in painting and making paper props for theatre productions. Despite not having a formal art education due to visual impairment, I've mastered various techniques through self-study and practice. I'm also an Earth Science nerd, a collector of skulls and miniature coffins, a dance enthusiast, and a lover of cooking. My workspace resembles a captain's quarters, reflecting my pirate heart, and I mostly play druids or clerics in games, enjoying a good villainous campaign.
